Hello and welcome!

My name is Harini Riana and I go by Ria. I am an entrepreneur, a writer, a mother and a wife. I was born and raised in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. I have always loved books ever since I was little. My brother and I had a little library that was filled with our books. We allowed children from our neighborhood to borrow our books. I have always admired authors and thought that it was such a cool thing to do to be able to write stories from your imagination. So to be here as one is a dream come true.

I studied and lived in the US for 20 years. I finished my high school at Wayland Academy, got my bachelor degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and my masters in Marketing Communications from Loyola University of Chicago. I worked in the field of marketing communications in Chicagoland area for eight years before I moved back to Michigan with my husband.

I started this blog in 2010 to document all of my travels and adventures. My husband and I explored, hiked, and camped at many state parks when we were in the US. I fell in love with nature and have stayed in love with it until today. This site had been a place for me to document our travels, exercise my writing skills, and process my thoughts. It also contains my journey as an amateur cook at the time :).

I took a four-year hiatus from writing on this blog due to a new role (at that time) as a brand new mom and a BIG move from the US back to our homeland in Indonesia. Reinventing yourself really does take time! But here I am. Ready to create and share some more.
